Zapf Umzüge AG is the winner of the employers award “Best employer – apprenticeships for Berlin 2009”.
The award is given annually by the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce to recognise those companies who have demonstrated great commitment in providing excellent professional training for their apprentices.
Each year Zapf Umzüge AG provides a larger number of apprenticeships to young people who are looking to train and educate themselves about a particular profession. In 2009 alone, apprentices comprised 27% of Zapf’s total work force.
The apprenticeship program includes on and off-the-job training supervised by full-time instructors.
Off-the-job, a special company training centre provides the necessary equipment and environment in form of tools, machines, a carpenter’s workshop, classrooms and so forth to ensure that all the skills are necessary for the business are taught and exercised in the most efficient way.
On-the-job, theory is brought into practice as apprentices assist with actual moves for real customers, all the while learning about safety, practicality and last but not least how to meet the customer needs best.
